MR. TITO: Has the WWE DEMOTED Mandy Rose to the NXT Roster?

Let’s not mince words here and get straight to the point: Mandy Rose was DEMOTED from the main WWE roster to rejoin the NXT roster. Don’t give me the “NXT is a co-equal brand” crap because you’re WRONG. The facts don’t support it:
(a) NXT was on the WWE Network only for years and is the LOWEST PAID prime time show among the 3 WWE prime time shows (NXT, RAW, Smackdown).
(b) NXT wrestlers are paid much less than WWE superstars.
(c) NXT works smaller arenas, draws fewer fans. Thus, also has the lowest merchandise sales.
(d) Wrestlers mostly start in NXT and then appear in WWE. Thus, NXT is the minor league system of the WWE.
(e) All NXT wrestlers are continually training at the WWE Performance Center.
(d) Wrestlers that Vince McMahon doesn’t want to use, such as Finn Balor, Fandango/Tyler Breeze, Ember Moon, and now possibly Mandy Rose are sent to NXT.
And don’t give me the “Mandy is just making an appearance like Charlotte”. WRONG. This was a different scenario with Charlotte Flair, as her role briefly working in NXT was to get Rhea Ripley over and wouldn’t you know a year later, Rhea Ripley wins the RAW Women’s Title. And don’t even compare it to Sasha Banks appearing on NXT. She was clearly sent there as a ratings draw and she, in fact, delivered as one of the NXT shows that she appeared on actually defeated AEW Dynamite head-to-head in one of the very few “Wednesday Night Wars” wins for NXT.
No, Mandy Rose is being sent to NXT not to help them with ratings because she oddly wasn’t drawing viewership with the WWE.
Here’s what I want to know… How could someone THAT beautiful and THAT fit, based on the workouts she does, fail in the WWE? She’s the type of performer that causes Vince McMahon and Kevin Dunn‘s tongues to repeatedly fall out of their faces. She looks like a slightly more muscular looking Trish Stratus but possibly with more wrestling training up-front (Trish became a great wrestler, with time, while on the job with WWE). How can someone who looks like that, has God given physical assets with strength, and extensive in-ring training fail?
Well, there are 2 reasons:
(a) She’s not that talented inside the ring or on promos. I sort of agree with this point, as she struggles on the mic… Inside the ring, she doesn’t have confidence in the personality that she’s portraying and sort of performs moves like painting by the numbers. Still, Sable was a horrible wrestler and it took years for Trish Stratus to figure things out.
(b) Obviously, it’s WWE Creative fumbling the ball. But how?!? Her look is typically what Vince McMahon and Kevin Dunn, who both have overwhelming creative say, would want.
Regardless, if part (b) was a strength, part (a) wouldn’t matter. If the WWE had a competent booker who knew how to market female wrestlers, such as Vince Russo, then someone like Mandy Rose would be a huge star. Look at how legendary Sable and Chyna still are and their characters were heavily booked and pushed by Vince Russo. I was watching the Chyna documentary recently and you can see that her wrestling career PEAKED with the drive to win the Intercontinental Title just before Russo left. After that Good Housekeeping match with Jericho (Russo had already left for WCW by then), she was kind of lost… She tried the singles thing out for a while against Men, but it struggled. Latino Heat with Eddie was fun but it seemed to help Eddie more than it did her. After that, she just wasn’t comfortable in the Women’s division. By late 2001, she was gone.
Part (b), the WWE Creative Team, is heavily failing MANY WWE wrestlers right now and Vince McMahon is a significant part of that team. 40 writers + Bruce Prichard + Vince McMahon with Kevin Dunn in his ear couldn’t figure out how to get Mandy Rose over?
And yeah, the PG Era this and the PG Era that… Always an excuse. However, what is legal for a female to wear is not contrary to that PG Era. Mandy Rose could walk out in a Bikini each and every week and that is 100% legal under the Standards and Practices of television. You don’t see police officers stopping females from wearing bikinis on a beach, right? So don’t tell me that they can’t push some sexuality stuff on WWE programming because they totally can. However, what probably really gets in the way is highly conservative Corporate Sponsors who are really filtering WWE’s content with threats over pulling ads.
The fact that WWE has her in NXT isn’t to help NXT because Mandy was NEVER a draw on WWE programming. Thus, she’s not like Charlotte Flair or Sasha Banks briefly working for the brand. The fact is that a few NXT Women’s wrestlers just appeared on WWE television and there are talks that they may stay permanently on the WWE roster with more NXT call-ups to come. Coincidentally, Mandy Rose appears on NXT.
I don’t think that it’s just an appearance… If it is just an appearance, then it diminishes her role on the main WWE roster because she doesn’t need to dabble in the WWE’s MINOR LEAGUE SYSTEM known as NXT.
The fact is that NXT is failing as a television show with under 700,000 viewership numbers on a PRIME TIME SLOT for USA Network that is available in 85 million homes. The other fact is that Mandy Rose isn’t drawing on the main WWE roster. She’s not there to help “boost ratings” but she’s there because WWE’s main roster has nothing for her to do and WWE is in the midst of raiding a few NXT talents. Rose is a talent deemed non-essential for the WWE main roster and thus can be lent to NXT to possibly rejoin them permanently.
I still wonder HOW Vince McMahon and Kevin Dunn aren’t tripping over themselves to get Mandy Rose over. She’s ready-made for what they specifically want. Hot, blonde, and could sell merchandise to a male audience. I guess now that Eva Marie is back, their attention has been diverted.
