Former WWE star Ted DiBiase Jr. still facing up to 45 years in prison as criminal case moves forward
Former WWE star Ted DiBiase Jr., son of “The Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase, was charged with theft of millions of dollars in federal funds intended for needy families in April of 2023. Accusations against DiBiase included one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and theft from federally funded programs, six counts of wire fraud, two counts of theft from federally funded programs, and four counts of money laundering. The government previously noted the case’s extensive discovery, stating that additional time is needed for both sides to prepare for trial or negotiate a plea, prioritizing justice over a speedy trial.
Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com noted that earlier this week, a hearing took place in the Mississippi Southern District Court in regards to the case. DiBiase’s trial is scheduled for August 26th at 9 AM, with jury selection set for August 19th. The prosecution must file expert disclosures by June 20th, while DiBiase’s defense has until June 27th. All case-related motions are due by July 10th.
If convicted, DiBiase could face up to 5 years for conspiracy, 20 years per wire fraud count, 10 years per theft count, and 10 years per money laundering count, with fines up to $250,000 per count. This totals a potential 45 years in prison and a $1 million fine.
