How people within WWE reportedly feel about a potential Cody Rhodes heel turn following WrestleMania 41

While appearing on The Pat McAfee Show after WWE WrestleMania 41, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson teased the idea of Cody Rhodes turning heel. Rock said they could potentially revisit the “sell your soul” angle and added that Cody has an “unheard of run as a heel down the road.”

According to Fightful Select, there is “strong opposition internally” within WWE to turn Cody heel despite Rock’s comments. Fightful noted that as of WrestleMania 41, there were “no intentions to revert Cody Rhodes to a heel.” The report clarified that “the company had outlined creative plans for him as a babyface for the entire year.”

Sources indicated an internal reluctance to put “too much of a spotlight” on a heel direction for Rhodes. It was also stated that “a number of people were against the idea of turning Cody Rhodes heel, noting his heavy contributions to the company’s ticketing and merchandise success.”

As previously noted, Cody is expected back on WWE television in time for the 2025 Money in the Bank PLE.
