Tony Khan addresses Thekla’s status with AEW after losing the women’s title to Willow Nightingale
Thekla’s reign as AEW women’s world champion ended at the 2026 Redemption PPV event, just weeks before All In: London at Wembley Stadium. With Thekla not advertised for the event, AEW President Tony Khan addressed her absence during the pre-event media call…
“Well, first of all, I did speak about the length of the card. I think Thekla is a tremendous, tremendous wrestler, and I think it’s certainly a great opportunity for everybody in AEW anytime they can participate in AEW All In. I still think we could see Thekla appear very soon in AEW.
Obviously, after she lost the championship to Willow Nightingale, we saw Thekla have this incredible match, and we haven’t seen her since. I think, I’d stay tuned to AEW because you’d expect Thekla back very soon.”
On the main pay-per-view card, I have been up to this point very focused on the eight matches, which I think will, as I budgeted, eight matches across four hours, with entrances and everything that feel like a pay-per-view duration. And yet, I think there are opportunities to add more moments and more excitement into the pay-per-view.”
Khan later stated the following…
“I do think that there are so many great AEW women and men clamoring to get on this show, and certainly there are going to be opportunities for a lot of them. Thekla is a great wrestler who is somebody who’s at the forefront of my mind, and I’m also very cognizant that she’s been a great champion for us, and she’s somebody who can come in and be a huge part of our shows anytime, on pay-per-view or TV, and is very unpredictable as well.
I would say stay tuned, certainly Thekla is a very valued person in AEW, and I’m very excited about the pay-per-view card.”
