Backstage news regarding WWE’s plans for Zilla Fatu following his NXT debut

Zilla Fatu, the son of late WWE star Umaga, officially debuted with the WWE NXT brand on August 11th 2026. A vignette of Fatu later was shown on Monday Night RAW.

According to WrestleVotes Radio, Zilla Fatu is internally expected to move to WWE’s main roster “before long,” with the company reportedly interested in pairing him with his cousins early in his WWE television career to set the foundation for long-term success.

The report noted that the vignette featuring Fatu on RAW was designed not only to promote NXT Heatwave, but also to introduce the 26-year-old to WWE’s broader audience. One source stated, “No, before long, he’s going to be on either RAW or SmackDown, joined up with his cousins, because the time is now.” WrestleVotes also said Fatu has the “it” factor and the qualities WWE looks for in its talent, suggesting the company does not envision him spending a lengthy amount of time in NXT.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson publicly commented on Fatu in an Instagram post by writing “Time to eat fam” with a fist emoji.
