AEW reportedly made a contract offer to Adam Cole but Tony Khan denies it

As previously noted, Adam Cole’s WWE contract ended after the Great American Bash show but Cole extended it though Summerslam weekend.

In an update, Fightful Select noted that WWE was able to make a verbal agreement with Cole at the time his contract expired and then he signed an extension through Summerslam weekend. The current belief is that “Cole maintains a positive relationship with those at the top of NXT, and there’s a lot of mutual respect there.”

Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com noted the following regarding Cole’s status…

“Those close to the situation have said that he is negotiating a new deal with NXT but that AEW had made an offer as well and he had not agreed to either offer as of midweek.”

Meltzer later tweeted an update on Cole…

Once Cole’s extension ends, he will officially be a free-agent and can immediately work for any company that he chooses.
