The latest regarding Ric Flair’s departure from WWE and a possible run with AEW

As previously noted, Ric Flair reportedly sent a message to Vince McMahon prior to his departure from WWE and expressed frustration with “certain booking decisions” that were made. In a public statement, Flair did not write anything negative about the company.

Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com noted that Flair’s ambassador contract with WWE had Flair making “significantly” more money than “even in his best years as world champion in WCW.” The belief is that Flair won’t say anything bad about WWE in a public forum because of how much money he was making and how he doesn’t want his daughter Charlotte’s career to be negatively impacted.

In regards to a possible run with AEW, Meltzer mentioned that AEW President Tony Khan was an invited guest to Flair’s wedding just prior to the launch of the company. Meltzer said the following about Flair and AEW…

“It would actually surprise me if Flair wouldn’t wind up in AEW and I had to think the only thing holding that up would be if they couldn’t come to an agreeable deal.”
