Update on Ring of Honor’s future following hiatus in early 2022
As previously noted, it was announced for Ring of Honor would be going on hiatus for the first quarter of 2022 and it was reported that “everyone” was being released from their contracts.
During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com had more information regarding the promotion’s future…
“They are going to retain the TV. Sinclair did not cancel the TV like a lot of people thought.”
“They’re not going to be running with a contracted crew. So, they will essentially be an independent promotion and they will use whoever the top independent guys are that they can book on the nights that they have shows and the nights that they do television. If they have people on TV doing programs, they will not be able to protect them from going to WWE or AEW or IMPACT or anyone else that wants to sign guys to contracts. It’s gonna be real tough for a champion.” (quotes courtesy of SEScoops.com and Cultaholic.com)
ROH will reportedly air archival footage prior to the relaunch.
