Details regarding “tentative plans” for CM Punk to make his return to AEW television
As previously noted, it’s belief that CM Punk is “probably” going to be making his return to wrestling. Punk suffered a torn triceps injury during his AEW All Out 2022 match against Jon Moxley but his AEW future was in question following his backstage altercation with The Elite.
In an update, Fightful Select noted that there have been “tentative plans put in place” for Punk to make his AEW return. The belief is that while nothing is set in stone and plans can change, Punk could be returning in time for the June 21st 2023 edition of AEW Dynamite in Chicago, IL. There were reportedly pitches made to announce Punk’s appearance well ahead of time.
It’s being said that Punk hopes to work The Elite but no contact has apparently been made between the two sides. There will possibly be a meeting between Punk and Chris Jericho to gauge the potential of them working together.
On the final stop before #ForbiddenDoor, #AEW returns to Chicago, IL. on Wednesday, June 21st at the @WintrustArena for #AEWDynamite LIVE & #AEWRampage! Tickets go on sale FRIDAY 04/21 at 10am CT! 🎟 https://t.co/rFcIFUPD6k | https://t.co/Y4EcTO5v4i pic.twitter.com/c1pHe102N3
