MVP says there was “gross mismanagement” in TNA Wrestling during his time with the company
While speaking on his podcast, MVP was asked to reflect on his time in TNA and identify the biggest “what if” he witnessed firsthand during his run with the company. Here was MVP’s response…
“I would say because back then, man, there was gross, gross mismanagement. People in positions that should not have been in those positions.
Dixie [Carter] was funneling money into the company. So, you had to placate her and give her some sense of importance and allow her to contribute on screen because that’s what she wanted. Everyone else has told the story. Everybody was in Dixie’s ear how great she is and how awesome she is and, you know, just doing everything to keep the money flowing in and to be on her good side, etc., etc.
When I was there, I came in during the time when John Gaburick was in charge, and he had no clue. He lied about his qualifications to get that job. He had never done any of those jobs in WWE, and me and Austin Aries used to joke about wishing we could be a fly on the wall when Dixie and Gaburick were just lying to each other during his interview.
For me, my experience, the biggest what-if I think would be, what if Spike was actually allowed to buy Impact?
I don’t know the exact facts on this, but I was told the rumor was people have said that Spike was interested in buying Impact without Dixie or without Dixie having an on-screen role.”
