WWE Needs to Sign Will Ospreay

Will Ospreay is set to be a free agent early next year and if I’m WWE, then I’m throwing as much money as it takes to sign him to my roster. This man is one of the absolute best professional wrestlers in the world and he would be an instant top-level star with WWE. He’s going to be a star in the wrestling world wherever he decides to sign, but WWE would benefit the most from signing a talent the level of Ospreay. Now that the Endeavor deal is complete and Ari Emmanuel owns WWE and recently gave the creative power in the company to Triple H, money should be no object for a guy like Will Ospreay.

If Will Ospreay signed with WWE, then he’s instantly in the main event picture with the top guys on the roster. He’s AJ Styles in 2016. He goes straight to the top against the likes of Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, Gunther, KO, Sami Zayn, John Cena, Randy Orton, Sheamus, Finn Balor, Drew McIntyre, Brock Lesnar, and CM Punk (if he returns). He’s immediately a world championship contender and could deliver INCREDIBLE matches across the board. His presence in WWE would also give him the highest profile he’s ever had, which would help make him a massive star in the WWE spotlight. He would be a massive star in AEW, but I think he’d become a BIGGER star in WWE.

To me, signing with AEW would be the easy thing to do and it comes with a small risk. If he chose to sign there, then it would be awesome for sure, but I feel like there’s a danger that Tony Khan might drop the ball with him if he doesn’t give him the booking he’ll deserve. In my opinion, Tony’s booking has been hit or miss lately, and I don’t want to see Ospreay become just another guy on a bloated roster. He deserves to be featured at the top of the card or damn near close to it, immediately upon arrival. Put the world title on him and let him cook against MJF, Danielson, Swerve, Eddie Kingston, Jay White, Malakai Black, Samoa Joe, Hangman, Andrade, Moxley, and Omega.

If Ospreay were to debut after WrestleMania, then he’s immediately a contender for whoever walks out as the world champions. When he’s not battling for the world title, then he’s absolutely a guy that continues to elevate the Intercontinental and US title scenes as well. He deserves big matches and championships wherever he goes. He’s also just 30 years old. He’s already tweaked his style so he could easily fit in with WWE. He’s still delivering epic performances all over the world, so I don’t have any fear of him getting watered down. If anything, he should continue to adapt his style to protect his body and ensure a long career.

I support his decision wherever he chooses to sign and whoever gets him will benefit greatly from his services. As a fan of both WWE and AEW, I’m happy with either scenario. I’m not including TNA in this scenario because I don’t think they’ll be able to afford him. Hiring Barry Bloom means he’s looking to secure a huge payday and TNA just can’t give that to him. WWE could though, and they would give him the biggest spotlight. It’s also something new for him and the fans. Back up the brinks truck and pay that man whatever it takes to make it happen.
