WWE Evolution II looks like a far stronger show than the original event

We’re just two weeks away from the second edition of WWE Evolution, and the full card is practically set. This shows how quickly WWE had to pull everything together, especially with both Evolution and Saturday Night’s Main Event taking place in the same weekend. While SNME looks stacked, I mostly want to talk about Evolution, which—at least on the surface—looks like a far stronger show than the original event.

Let’s go through the matches that have been officially announced first, and then I’ll cover the two rumored or unconfirmed bouts at the end.

1. NXT Women’s Championship: Jacy Jayne vs. Jordynne Grace

This match could go one of two ways: either Jacy retains and this becomes Jordynne’s farewell before a main roster call-up, or Jordynne wins the title and has a short run before being called up.

Personally, I’m leaning toward the second option. It wouldn’t make much sense for Jordynne—out of WWE’s three major signings this year (alongside Giulia and Stephanie Vaquer)—to be the only one who doesn’t hold the NXT title. What better way to solidify her as a top star than winning it at a major PLE? While I’m happy Jacy finally got a title run, I think she’s a transitional champion. I expect Jordynne to walk out as the new champ.

2. Women’s World Championship: IYO SKY vs. Rhea Ripley

After Rhea beat Raquel on Saturday, it became clear this was her path forward. There’s already a built-in story here—Rhea has never beaten IYO in singles competition—which adds intrigue and raises the stakes.

If I were booking, I’d have Rhea finally get that win and reclaim the title. It would feel far more satisfying than seeing IYO retain once again.

3. Women’s Battle Royal – Winner Gets a Title Shot at Clash in Paris

This match will include most of the roster members who aren’t already booked for a match on the show. Expect names like B-Fab, Michin, and Chelsea Green to mix it up with bigger stars like Stephanie Vaquer and Nia Jax. I also wouldn’t be surprised to see a few legends enter—maybe Nikki Bella, Michelle McCool, or Mickie James—for that added nostalgia pop.

As for a winner? Looking at the likely participants, Stephanie Vaquer feels like the best pick. Outside of her and Nia, there aren’t many that make sense right now, and let’s be honest—no one’s clamoring for another Nia title shot.

4. Fatal Four-Way for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles

Judgment Day vs. Team Raw vs. Team NXT vs. Team SmackDown

Spoilers ahead—if you haven’t read the SmackDown taping results, skip this section.

It’s been confirmed that Roxanne will replace Liv Morgan as Raquel’s partner, but only under the condition that they defend the titles against a team from each brand.

We don’t yet know who Team Raw or Team NXT will be. That might be revealed tonight. But if you read the spoilers, you already know that Team SmackDown will be Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair. It might seem strange to see Charlotte in the tag title picture, but given her current storyline with Alexa, it makes sense.

My guesses? Team Raw might be Natalya and Maxxine Dupri. As for Team NXT, it’s likely either Fallon Henley and Jasmine Nyx or Sol Ruca and Zarya. I’d lean toward Sol and Zarya, especially if Fallon and Jasmine are involved in helping Jacy retain her title.

In the end, I don’t think any of it matters. Raquel and Roxanne will retain, and depending on how long Liv’s hiatus lasts, they could hold the belts until she returns.
Rumored Matches

There are two matches that haven’t been officially confirmed, but I still want to talk about them. One should be announced on SmackDown, and the other on next week’s Raw.

5. WWE Women’s Championship: Tiffany Stratton vs. Trish Stratus

With Nikki Bella possibly tied up in the battle royal or a feud with Liv Morgan, Tiffany got paired with Trish in a legends match—and honestly, I don’t mind it. Sure, it makes no storyline sense for Trish to get handed a title shot, but this could still be a great match. Tiffany has proven she can go in the ring, and Trish can still bring it.

While I see Tiffany beating Trish, I don’t think she’ll leave Evolution with the title. I expect Naomi to cash in her Money in the Bank briefcase after the match and win the championship—setting up Naomi vs. Jade Cargill at SummerSlam.

6. Women’s Intercontinental Championship: Becky Lynch vs. Bayley vs. Lyra Valkyria

Bayley and Lyra had a great match on Raw that ended in a draw, followed by a post-match brawl. That leads me to believe we’ll either see a rematch where Becky interferes, or Adam Pearce will announce that both women will challenge Becky at Evolution in a triple threat.

This could easily be the match of the night. All three are top-tier performers capable of putting on a five-star classic.

As for the winner, I’d pick Bayley to pin Becky (with help from Lyra), setting up future storylines while Becky and Lyra continue their feud.

Bonus Match Idea (Wishful Thinking)

If I could add one more match to the card, it would be Giulia defending her United States Women’s Title in a rematch against Zelina Vega. Unfortunately, I doubt this makes the PLE. More likely, both women will be in the battle royal. Still, I’d rather see Giulia defend her title than just be another name in a multi-woman match.

Final Thoughts

Looking at the full lineup, this show is definitely stronger than the first Evolution and proves how stacked the WWE women’s division is right now. While I still believe the timing of this event—alongside SNME and The Great American Bash—is designed to undercut AEW’s PPV numbers, Evolution II is shaping up to be a great show on its own merit.

If you’re a fan of women’s wrestling, this event should not be missed. And hopefully, it does well enough that we don’t have to wait another five years for the next one.
