Moving Into Week 2 of the “Netflix Era” of WWE RAW
It’s been a week since WWE’s debut on Netflix. A week to simmer down, collect thoughts, and wonder what the “product” progressing into the “Netflix Era” will look like. Off the rip, WWE’s Netflix debut was a hit with the numbers, averaging 2.6 million households. As reported by the WWE that’s 116% higher than RAW’s 2024 average. But will those numbers be sustainable? I don’t necessarily think so.
The debut RAW on Netflix featured just four matches in the three hours it was on the air. Of course they had to get in the promo segments, guest appearances, and special guests. But I fear the lack of actual wrestling on the program could be a turn off for viewers. After all, this is a wrestling show. With the red-carpet hoopla out of the way, I’m predicting tonight’s RAW to have much more wrestling. Sadly, I think it will be viewed by a smaller audience then the opening week. But, with solid matches and shows I think that number is attainable again in the future.
One thing I’m particularly looking forward to is the potential debut of Pentagon Jr., who looks like he’ll be going by Penta in the WWE. His merch is on the WWE Shop, front page now as I checked, so I’d believe his debut is imminent and I expect it to happen tonight. With his style and look alone, he’s bound to be a draw for the WWE in my opinion and only good things will come from his run with the company. His debut and a few more matches on the card I think will beef the program up and get it rolling into can’t miss RAW episodes on Netflix.
Personally, I want to see this all do well. I have high hopes for this Netflix Era of RAW and it actually got me back into watching/writing. I’ve wrestled around the world to include Korea, Alaska, Texas and all throughout the southeastern USA over a span of 12+ years. This year I officially “retired” after several injuries, a neck fusion, and some muscles torn that I haven’t repaired yet. I’m looking forward to now being a spectator/critic and writing my thoughts from someone with experience for the world to hear/read.
I hope everyone has a great week and let’s hope Monday Night RAW tonight is a blast! If you’re not already, give me a follow on X, @RyanOshun
