WWE’s main roster cuts from May of 2025 were reportedly viewed as “dead weight”
Last week, it was announced that multiple wrestlers were parting ways with WWE including Braun Strowman. According to Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com, Paul Levesque (Triple H) made the final decisions although it’s unclear if he was given a specific number of cuts or budget target. The belief is that the moves reflected standard roster management to balance new additions with departures.
Melzter stated the following…
“For the main roster, it was categorized as wanting to bring new people to television and that those who were let go had reached their peak of usage and of how far the company would go with them. The term ‘dead weight’ on the main roster was also used.”
In regards to NXT cuts, it’s believed that those with “little main roster potential” were let go. Meltzer was told from multiple sources that “decisions were made based on the feeling some talent was lazy, had not improved enough, were injury prone, or the feeling that they weren’t connecting.”
