Rey Mysterio announces tournament with the winner facing Roman Reigns for the World Title
The August 3rd 2026 edition of WWE RAW ended with Roman Reigns running into AAA General Manager and WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio backstage. After they shook hands, Rey told Reigns that he had something he wanted to speak to him about and wanted to “run something by” him.
In a video published to social media, Rey announced a tournament featuring luchadores from WWE RAW, SmackDown and AAA. The winner will earn a World Heavyweight Championship match against Reigns on the September 14th episode of RAW in Mexico City.
