Results of Gunther vs. Matt Riddle at WWE Money in the Bank 2023

Gunther (c) vs. Matt Riddle for the Intercontinental title took place at WWE Money in the Bank 2023. Here are the highlights…

* Riddle tried to end the match early with submission attempts and kicks but Gunther stopped Riddle’s momentum with a chop. Gunther targeted Riddle’s ankle and ripped over protective tape. Riddle started to fight back but landed on his bad ankle.

* Riddle continued to fight and managed to hit a floating bro off the top but Gunther kicked out. Gunther regained control and chopped the ankle repeatedly. Gunther then applied a submission and Riddle tapped out.

* After the match, Drew McIntyre made his first appearance since Wrestlemania 39 and confronted Gunther in the ring. Michael Cole on commentary said “the rumors about Drew McIntyre’s demise in WWE are not true.” Gunther took a shot at McIntyre and McIntyre responded with a Glasgow kiss. McIntyre then delivered the Claymore to Gunther. McIntyre posed with Gunther’s IC title as his music played.
