Early news regarding WWE’s plans for the 2022 Royal Rumble PPV

As previously noted, WWE has announced locations for live events through the end of 2021. It appears that WWE is already looking to event plans for 2022.

According to Fightful Select, St. Louis, MO is currently the front runner to host the 2022 Royal Rumble although that was said to be the idea around a month ago. Prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, Seattle, WA was rumored to be the host city for the 2021 Royal Rumble PPV.

The site also noted that the event could possibly take place in February for the first time…

“One of the more interesting notes about the Royal Rumble is that there has been significant internal discussion about it actually happening in early February for the first time in history.”

It was previously noted by Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com that the 2021-2022 NFL television schedule will have a “significant” impact on WWE programming in upcoming fall and winter months. The Royal Rumble PPV moving to a non-Superbowl Sunday in February would likely be to avoid football competition.
