Cash Wheeler calls out internet trolls: “I genuinely wish that you had a better life”

While speaking to LNG Productions, Cash Wheeler of FTR commented on his lack of social media usage…

“I used to really enjoy partaking more in social media. Especially when we were on longer travels, like long flights and long bus rides, going back and forth was always entertaining to me.

But then it gets to a point where people don’t really find humor in it anymore, or it just opens up another door for somebody else to try to bring it down, make it negative, and take it seriously when that’s not the tone.

I also think I’ve become more private as a person over time. I’ve always been pretty private, but it’s gotten to the point now where I really value that separation between work and home.

I think that when I’m home, it’s easier for me to enjoy being home because I still feel like you always have a deadline to get somewhere. Even if you’re home for a couple of days, it’s kind of the hamster wheel. You’ve got to do the things you do every week. I’ve got to get a haircut, get the clothes done, make sure I’ve got this packed, and then you throw in all the other stuff of life to go with it.

It gets to the point where it can be a little overwhelming. So, stepping away helps. I’m lucky that I live somewhere where I can go outside and genuinely not have a signal. It’ll go into SOS mode. So even if I wanted to look something up, talk to somebody, or whatever, I can’t do it. And it’s like, ah.

So yeah, I do think it’s something that’s helped me enjoy work more because there are still people that I know from social media.

I try not to take it too seriously or read too much into the back-and-forth and the tribalism on both sides.

I can’t believe that people have fun and actively go out trying to be a troll account. That makes me think you have a very sad life outside of that online account.

I don’t even enjoy making fun of that. I genuinely wish that you had a better life so you weren’t having to be such a terrible, toxic person online.”
