AEW making change to the 2022 Battle of the Belts card

During the January 7th 2022 edition of AEW Rampage, the company will be announcing a change to Saturday’s Battle of the Belts card due to “medical protocol.” Cody Rhodes vs. Sammy Guevara for the TNT Title and Britt Baker vs. Riho for the AEW women’s title were the two matches that were originally scheduled for the one-hour special. Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com wrote that “the only thing we were told is that everyone is okay, but one match is being changed for medical reasons.”

There has been speculation about Cody Rhodes’ status for the show as he was not on Dynamite and he wrote the following message on his Instagram story…

“Please get vaccinated – if not for yourself, for the young kids/babies who can’t defend themselves as easily from Covid.”
