According to WrestleVotes Radio, there have been rumblings within WWE about Rey Mysterio potentially retiring from in-ring competition in 2027. A source noted that they had no direct knowledge of when or where an official retirement would take place, but recent backstage discussions have pointed toward next year potentially marking the end of Rey’s wrestling career.

WWE has reportedly discussed ideas for presenting Rey’s farewell. Similar to AJ Styles, there is reportedly a feeling within WWE that Rey will remain involved with the company after retiring, continuing to help develop the next generation of talent in WWE and AAA.

While speaking to BANG Showbiz in September, Rey stated the following about retirement…

“I think I’m just going to wing it and see where this road takes me, because I’m really enjoying the moments right now that I’m living inside the ring, whether as a wrestler or as a GM.”
