Andrade comments on his decision to leave AEW for a WWE return in 2024

While speaking to Renee Paquette on AEW’s Close Up show, Andrade commented on his decision to leave AEW for a WWE return in 2024. Here is what Andrade had to say…

“So personally, it was good, but professionally, it was a little sad because my contract expired at that moment. I had to make a decision: do I focus on my personal life, because I was married at the time [to Charlotte Flair], or my professional life? I chose my personal life and had to make a decision.

I went to Tony [Khan] and said, “Thank you for the opportunity. The contract has expired, and I hope to see you in the future.” I needed to move on for my personal life and myself, and for a better relationship.

I always had a good relationship with AEW. Now, with this second opportunity, Tony has given me the chance to return to AEW, and I said yes. Now is the moment to show who I am.

I need to repay Tony, not with money, but through my work in the ring. This is why I want to defend this title, and this is why I’m here. I want to help the people in the locker room. I want to stay close to, as we say, the boys. I’m here to help the company.

They want what’s best for the company, and they want what’s best for me. I want to represent this company very well. That’s how I need to repay Tony for this second chance, this second opportunity.”
