News regarding why WWE gave Chad Gable the clap routine on RAW
According to WrestleVotes Radio, Chad Gable’s new overhead clapping routine may be part of a larger creative direction tied to Minnesota.
A source indicated that the gesture is likely inspired by the “Skol Clap,” a tradition associated with the Minnesota Vikings and their fanbase. With Gable being from the Minneapolis area and SummerSlam set to take place in Minneapolis this year, WWE reportedly sees the connection as a natural fit.
It was noted that WWE is often looking for fan participation elements that can become signature parts of a wrestler’s presentation, such as Jey Uso’s “Yeet” catchphrase. A source told WrestleVotes Radio that WWE’s attempt to establish a crowd connection through Gable’s new routine “does not come as a surprise” given the company’s history of embracing audience-driven interactions.
