Matt Hardy comments on the possibility of Chris Jericho making an appearance in TNA Wrestling

While speaking on his podcast, Matt Hardy commented on the possibility of Chris Jericho possibly making an appearance in TNA Wrestling…

“I just think he’s at that point where his run in AEW feels kind of done—for better or for worse—and it just kind of is what it is. He was obviously a huge focal point, and he’s one of the early builders and architects of AEW.

Without Chris Jericho coming in and giving them equity as their first World Champion, I don’t think AEW follows the same direction it did initially. It doesn’t take off as fast as it did. He was very beneficial to them. He was a pillar of their beginnings.

The fan base right now isn’t necessarily into older performers who entertain as much as they wrestle. They want wrestlers. You know, ‘where the best wrestle.’

With the Learning Tree stuff not really getting over in a big way, him being off TV for a while, and his deal coming up, Chris has always been really good at knowing when it’s time to go somewhere else—freshen up, put a new coat of paint on. I think he’s willing to do that again.

With WWE, it’s not like he’s some young guy coming in to sign a five-year deal and grind it out. But he could come in, make appearances, and be a massive star if he’s used the right way. He could have big matches that actually mean something.

I think he could also pop over and do something in TNA, which would be cool. He’s never done that before. Maybe even something involving AAA—you never know. He could be an ambassador-type who performs every now and then.

[Why TNA?] He’s never done it. He’s never appeared in TNA, and with the WWE–TNA partnership, he feels like the perfect guy to show up on TNA programming. It would be a huge deal for TNA, and it also lets him check another box on his bucket list by finally appearing there.”
