Tony Khan on Christian Cage’s injuries at All Out: “He was hurt badly, and we didn’t know it”

During the October 14th 2026 edition of AEW Dynamite, Adam Copeland revealed that Christian Cage suffered serious injuries during the three-way ladder match for the titles at All Out. According to Copeland, Cage was thrown into a ladder approximately five minutes into the match, breaking three ribs, with one of the ribs fractured in three places. Cage also suffered a collapsed lung.

While speaking in a media call to promote the 2026 WrestleDream PPV event, AEW President Tony Khan commented on Christian…

“Christian Cage is like a family member to me. He’s a father figure to many. I think of him like a big brother or somebody I’m very close to. He’s one of my closest friends in the world, and I love Christian so much.

He was hurt badly, and we didn’t know it. He fought through it and tried to be a tough guy because he’s one of the toughest people in the world. Adam [Copeland] said it better than anybody could have last night, and you heard the crowd gasping because Christian has such a connection with the fans, just like he has a connection with the locker room. People don’t know how hard of a time it’s been, too, because there was a 24-hour period that I think was the toughest period ever in AEW. It’ll go on and last a lot longer, but there was certainly a 24-hour period when we had to accept that our great friend Ben had passed away, that Pac had passed away, and that we were really worried about Christian.

Christian Cage is recovering from those injuries. He’s one of the toughest people, but he fought through and had one of the greatest wrestling matches ever. When you know that he hurt himself and tried to power through, frankly, he tried to shake off the medical team, say he wasn’t hurt, downplay it, and say he could continue. Nobody realized the extent of it until afterward. Then we were worried about him, somebody who I think we all love outside the ring and inside the ring.”
