Botch leads to title change during the December 16th 2025 edition of WWE NXT

As seen during the December 16th 2025 edition of WWE NXT, Thea Hail won the NXT Women’s North American Championship after defeating Blake Monroe. Hail hit a springboard senton off the middle rope on Monroe and went for the pin. Even though Monroe had gotten her shoulder up, the referee counted to three and Hail was declared the new champion.

Fightful.com noted the finish was an unintentional botch, which led to immediate backstage scrambling and forced last-minute changes to the show. Creative plans had originally called for Hail not to win the title, but those plans were altered, affecting the creative direction of multiple NXT roster members.

There is no word on who is being blamed internally, as the focus was on adjusting plans rather than assigning fault.
