WWE reportedly working on surprises for the John Cena retirement edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event

Gunther will face John Cena in Cena’s retirement match at Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13th 2025. According to PWInsider.com, WWE sources say that the company is working on having surprises for the show, though specifics haven’t been revealed.

PWInsider noted that world heavyweight champion CM Punk is currently slated to be at SNME. There is backstage talk that NXT star Joe Hendry may attend along with at least one more TNA talent beyond Leon Slater. Additional performers will be in Washington, D.C. for promotional events, meaning more names may be backstage even if they don’t appear on-camera.

After missing the previous SNME, Twitter/X account @WrestleVotes reports that Jesse “The Body” Ventura “is set for Washington, D.C. this weekend as the big John Cena send-off show approaches.”
