What is being said about the claims of MVP having “backstage heat” in AEW

In a Twitter/X Space session hosted by JCup2013 of The Wrestling Binder, there were claims that MVP has “backstage heat” in AEW. According to Fightful Select, the idea that MVP has rubbed people in AEW the wrong way has been echoed by multiple wrestlers over the past few months.

It is said to be well known within AEW that MVP dislikes “Speedball” Mike Bailey. Reportedly, MVP made it clear that he did not want AEW Tag Team Champions The Hurt Syndicate losing to JetSpeed. It’s unknown whether JetSpeed was ever in line to win the titles and no one spoken to was aware of a specific reason for MVP’s dislike of Bailey.

One internal claim within AEW was that The Hurt Syndicate turned down pitches to lose to FTR at both AEW All In and Forbidden Door. Instead, MVP reportedly said that The Hurt Syndicate preferred to drop the titles to younger teams such as Gates of Agony, The Outrunners, or Private Party. There was also apparently consideration to have Will Ospreay and Swerve Strickland win the titles but that plan was temporarily derailed due to Ospreay’s injury.

Reported frustration from the locker room centers on The Hurt Syndicate being heels who perform flashy moves, dominate opponents, and give fans high-fives on their way out. However, there are said to be no issues between MJF and The Hurt Syndicate.

Fightful noted that many people on the roster they spoke to have said that 2025 has been one of the best years for locker room morale, with most wrestlers dismissing issues.

MVP wrote on Twitter/X, “Heard any good rumors lately?”
