Former WCW star Buff Bagwell says he plans to wrestle again despite having his leg amputated

While speaking to Maven Huffman, former WCW star Buff Bagwell commented on making the decision to have his leg amputated due to complications from a 2020 car accident…

“When you hear ‘knee replacement,’ you think you can just get a new knee. But you’ve got to have your kneecap. And I didn’t have my kneecap. My kneecap, the doctors said on impact, it exploded. It wasn’t there… The very first doctor we went to said there was a 75% chance I was going to lose this leg. We’ve already been through several surgeries, 30 something surgeries through all this. There was a seven week stay early on in 2020 where there were 21 surgeries on this. 30 surgeries on this knee trying to save it. And nowhere along the way except the very first appointment said amputation. So when I went to the appointment to hear what we were going to do to save it, a minute into the conversation, I said, ‘Stop. What’s the chances of that working?’ He said 20%. A 20% chance was three surgeries, countless hours of physical therapy, and my leg being straight the rest of my life.”

Bagwell also commented on his plans to wrestle again…

“It’s not what if, it is make it happen. There’s no difference with this in the videos I’m seeing of the prosthetic people. I’m like, if they can run, I’m gonna be able to run and I’m going to be able to run better. I want to get back in the ring, hit the ropes, have a match. It’ll show some that I’ve came out of the darkness with this thing and I’ve turned it around all the way to being back in the ring as Buff Bagwell. You don’t have to give up with something like this. This is something that I am taking by the horns, man. And I’m going to show the world that you can have just as good a life with or without a leg.”
