NJPW star comments on a potential match against CM Punk at the Forbidden Door II PPV
While CM Punk’s return to AEW confirmed, there has been internet speculation about him potentially having a match at the Forbidden Door II PPV on Sunday, June 25th 2023. One of the names mentioned as a potential opponent for Punk is NJPW star Kenta as both use the same Go 2 Sleep finishing move.
Kenta tweeted “it depends on money” in response to the idea of a match against Punk at the event. Kenta also wrote the following…
“I don’t really care who’s the original G2S. There is only one truth. If you want me to have match against Punk, Give Me correct amount of money. Other than that I don’t need to have this match. Seriously.”
In 2022, Punk told ComicBook.com “no” when asked if was interested in facing Kenta at the first Forbidden Door PPV. Punk did not compete at the first Forbidden Door due to injury and his status for this year’s event is unclear due to his real-life issues with The Elite.
