Wrestle Review: Vice, Vice, Baby! Submitted by Andy Sullivan on 04/24/2021 at 11:40 AM
It was announced this week that MLW would be coming to Vice. This is great news! As a wrestling fan, you want as many options as possible. WWE, Impact, AEW, Championship Wrestling from Hollywood on LVNG and now MLW. It'll be great to see Alicia Atout on my TV again!
Thursday, Mickie James tweeted "Dear Vince, I'm not sure you're aware but I did receive my care package today. Thank you". With the message, she posted a pic of her stuff in a garbage bag. Twitter erupted and, of course, the first wrestler to throw shade at Vince was Mr Covid-denier himself, Chris Jericho. "A real sh_t move, Vince". Well, Chris....
Shida vs Conti Wednesday was the highest rated segment in AEW history! They really put on a good one. Darby Allin vs Jungle Boy for the TNT Championship was another banger! Darby is one of my favorites in that company. The addition of Sting as his mentor has brought quite the new aura to his character. Team Taz' problem with Christian Cage wil eventually lead to Cage facing every member of Taz' squad, right? Hobbs last week, Cage this coming week. I wonder who who Cage faces at Double or Nothing?
Speaking of a good one, are Daniel Bryan's days in the ring numbered? He gets another shot at Roman Reigns' Universal Championship Friday. If he loses, however, he "leaves" Smackdown. Is that meaning he's going to Raw? Does he actually stop wrestling again and become a GM? Does he leave WWE and go elsewhere? I'm always reading rumors about people's contracts being up. As many rumors as I read about that, you'd think everybody signs a short contract. That is, of course, not the case. I think people like to say they know just to get clicks.
I noticed there were only a handful of matches on Smackdown. 4-5 in two hours, I believe. Insignificant thing to notice, sure. Oh, the things that stand out to me.
Impact Rebellion airs tonight! Here are my quick hits to close my column this week.
Fire N Flava lose the tag titles to Jordynne Grace and Rachel Ellering.
Myers beats Cardona.
Sabin, Edwards, Storm and Mack lose to Violent By Design.
Sami Calihan beats Trey Miguel.
Josh Alexander wins the X Division Championship over TJP and Ace Austin.
Deonna Purrazzo successfully defends the Knockouts title against Tenille Dashwood.
Finjuice loses the tag titles back to the Good Brothers thanks to Don Calis and Kenny Omega.
Kenny Omega and Rich Swann battle to a no-contest after the ref catches Calis and Good Brothers interfering and the entire Impact locker room comes down to fight Calis' Crew. These unification matches hardly ever have a clear winner. I used to think it was a lock Kenny was winning the Impact title. He could win it and hold it hostage. That'd be an interesting arc. I still think no-contest, though.
Enjoy Rebellion if you're watching! Have a great week of wrestling and be sure to check out my podcast, Blendertainment, wherever you listen to your podcasts. Catch you right back here next weekend!
