Wrestle Review: The Revolution Will Be Televised!
Submitted by Andy Sullivan on 03/06/2021 at 12:14 PM

Before I get to Revolution tomorrow night, let me get something off my chest about WWE. In January, we were all excited we were getting Sasha Banks vs Bianca Belair. Fast forward two months later and they have the two teaming for the tag titles and act like they're pals. I understand Vince likes to team up singles stars to create a tenuous situation. He's always done it. Remember the team of Shawn Michaels and Stone Cold? Back then, it actually created excitement and drama. It's 2021 now. Things that worked 2 decades ago don't really work now.

I slept through the last part of Smackdown so I'll just move onto AEW. Shaq in the ring Wednesday for the first time....he certainly didn't embarrass himself. He even took a bump by going through a table! The FTR, Tully Blanchard and returning Shawn Spears situation was interesting. What made it even more interesting is Arn Anderson coming out, looking in the ring and pondering. For a year, I and many AEW fans have been dreaming of perhaps a stable of FTR, Shawn Spears and Cody Rhodes with Arn and Tully. Could it finally be coming to fruition? Imagine if and when it does!

Also, here's a little Smackdown tidbit, I find it stupid and frustrating that Apollo Crews, from California, now speaks full-on Nigerian. It's Kofi Kingston in reverse. King Booker and Matt Hardy are the only others, to my knowledge, that have done the accent change. I still remember Kofi best. The way DX caught him with a "hey, aren't you Jamaican? Where's your accent"? And Kofi with the "oops" look on his face. Priceless. What they're doing with Crews, though? I just don't know what or why they're doing it. Because it amuses Vince, I'm sure.

The biggest chatter is "who is the hall of fame signee that Paul Wight spoke of Wednesday? I saw a Kurt Angle vignette this morning where he was lacing his boots to the Star Spangled Banner. Could it be? Tune in tomorrow and we shall see!

Revolution predictions:
Britt Baker and Rebel pick up a nefarious win over Riho and Thunder Rosa.

15 teams, 3 of which representing Dark Order, make up the Casino Tag Battle Royal. It'd be cool to see a Dark Order team win. Imagine if, say, Pac and Rey Fenix win. It's about time for both those guys to be back in contention for gold, don't you think?

Miro and Kip Sabian will defeat Chuck Taylor and Orange Cassidy. To say I'm disappointed at the booking of Miro since he came over after his release from WWE would be an understatement. I remember my friend Chris saying, even when he was Rusev in WWE, that he'd be the champion in AEW in no time. Since he came to AEW, Miro has been in a feud over a destroyed video game, the best man of Kip Sabian's tv version of his wedding and now he's in a meaningless tag match with Kip against Cassidy and Taylor. Yeah, he's doing great there. Should be world champ soon.... Miro and Kip win.

The face of the Revolution ladder match will, we know, include Cody Rhodes, Scorpio Sky, Penta, Lance Archer and Max Caster and a mystery competitor. The winner will receive a TNT title opportunity. Imagine if Penta or Pac wins? This one should be a lot of fun! It's hard to make a prediction when you dno't know all the participants. But if Penta won and, say, Pac and Fenix winning the tag battle royal, we could eventually have all members of Death Triangle as champions. Also, I'd like to see what the "why does WWE insist on putting singles wrestlers together for tag gold" says when AEW does the same.

"Hangman" Adam Page vs Matt Hardy in a big money match...boy, is Page spinning his wheels or what? I know everybody can't be in the world title picture. Think about this though: with the winner receiving the winner's earnings for the first quarter of this year-Page could position himself into the World Title hunt. I pick Page.

Sting and Darby Allin vs Ricky Starks and Brian Cage in a street fight is one Sting and Darby have to win, right? It would be a pretty big blow.

The Bucks will lose the AEW tag titles to Chris Jericho and MJF. Then the only AEW title Jericho will have not won is the TNT title. Well, there's the women's title. I just think that with all they've put the Bucks through psychologically, I think it'll be too much to overcome. That and the chicanery of the Inner Circle.

Hikaru Shida defending the women's championship against Ryo Mizunami should be an outstanding match! Ryo had to go through a grueling tournament to get the shot. I think her success ends here, though. Shida will retin in a great contest.

The show closes with a match we all knew who was winning from the beginning. Kenny Omega will retain against Jon Moxley in AEW's first Exploding Barbed Wire Deathmatch. No way Kenny loses the title here. Does Jon disappear for awhile after this match? How can he not?
