The X-Factor: Royal Rumble '21
Submitted by Victor Mariscal on 01/30/2021 at 03:13 PM

Third year in a row the Royal Rumble will be in a baseball field. I went to the 2019 show in Phoenix, you know, back when we could be in large crowds without fear.

Really missing Becky Lynch right now.

For many, it is the 2nd biggest event of the year. Why do they say it’s SummerSlam? The Royal Rumble begins the “Road to WrestleMania”. Another thing, why are people down on the “pointing at the sign” trope? On 2-21-11, Undertaker and Triple H used it to lock down their match in Atlanta. They used no words, just pointing and over-the-top gesturing. It went well.

Well, the next WrestleMania season starts tomorrow.

Women’s Royal Rumble
As of now, the leading favorite is Bianca Belair. Alexa Bliss and Charlotte are right behind her, and there’s the x-factor of surprise entries. Ronda Rousey perhaps?

There’s gonna be progression of other angles during this. If Alexa shows up, what are we gonna see? Last Monday she broke free from the Fiend’s influence for a moment. Where is that going? More of the Lacey-Ric Flair storyline will play out, of that I’m sure.

I’m not expecting any particular surprise. It’s better not to pin your hopes on who’s potentially showing up. The wait-and-see approach works people.

Winner: Bianca Belair
2nd Choice: Alexa Bliss
3rd Choice: Charlotte Flair

Women’s Tag Team Championship
Shayna Baszler and Nia Jax vs. Charlotte Flair and Asuka (C)

She can fire back at the critics all she wants, but Nia is unsafe and she had better work on that before she ends someone’s career.

Shayna does deserve a singles title run, which she should’ve gotten last year. Oh well.

Winners: Shayna and Nia

Universal Championship
Last Man Standing
Kevin Owens vs. Roman Reigns (C)

Did you ever think two years ago that Roman would be the best thing on either Raw or SD?

Reigns “went there” by bringing up Owens’ family. Did KO ever cross that line? As nasty as he’s been, I can’t remember a time he did. It only serves to rally more fan support behind Kevin and beat the ever loving hell out of the Tribal Chief. I’ll wager he will but still fall short of winning back the Universal title, but it’ll be a win Reigns has to earn.

Would be a swerve to end them all if KO won.

Winner: Roman Reigns

WWE Championship
Goldberg vs. Drew McIntyre (C)

Oh, this match.

Do they have a plan after this? Why don’t they move towards Reigns vs. Goldberg again? Get that match out of the way? It appears unlikely Goldberg will win. Who’s gonna be Drew’s opponent in Tampa?

I expect it will last around 5 or so minutes? McIntyre will probably kick out of the Spear, deliver a shock Claymore kick leading to another kick-out.

And then there’s The Miz who’s every bit the weasel he was when he stole the WWE title 10 years ago.

Winner: Drew McIntyre

Men’s Royal Rumble

I think we can say it won’t be Keith Lee what with Mia Yim contracting the virus.

As it stands, Daniel Bryan is the heavy favorite, unless plans change as they tend to do. Edge is also a favorite, and then there’s the shock return of Braun Strowman.

Could we see Brock Lesnar? Maybe Goldberg wants to “Becky Lynch” himself a spot, or just beat up a heel about to enter.

Perhaps it’s Big E’s time too.

Winner: Daniel Bryan
2nd Choice: Edge

Don’t mess with the X.
