Wrestle Review: Lightning Round
Submitted by Andy Sullivan on 01/16/2021 at 12:16 PM

Chris Jericho and MJF vs Santana and Ortiz vs Hager and Sammy, or as the Inner Circle said Wednesday-Sammy Hager. I really hope that's what they name that team. How great would that be?! Whoever wins the right to go after the titles should win them. The eventual escalating strife would be good tv.

Adam Pearce taking himself out of the Universal Championship match and putting in Kevin Owens brought a resounding YES from most watching. Owens will lose again, of course. Does the fact that it's a last man standing match change anything? In a word, no. The question on Smackdown remains: who challenges Roman at WrestleMania? Will someone from Raw win the Rumble, meaning that it's back to the drawing board for Smackdown? I think so. I sense a six-pack challenge or something at the February event.

Shinsuke Nakamura has his old music back! It would appear they've chosen to capitalize on his hot streak in the gauntlet last week to turn him face. I love that Corey mentioned Cesaro won the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania 30. I thought they forgot about history in WWE.

I see Bayley has her own talk show named after her new tagline, Ding Dong. It's um, well...it's something for Bayley to do. Her first guest was Bianca Belair and it was revealed that they're going to go through and obstacle course next week. Well that's some can't-miss tv...

I love that we got Daniel Bryan vs Cesaro last night! Those two in the ring together is always gold. The fact they gave Cesaro the win was a surprise to me! I'm not mad at it, honestly. We get Roman Reigns beating Kevin Owens again at the Rumble. This time in a Last Man Standing match. Meh. Below are my Hard to Kill quick hit predictions:

Josh Alexander over Brian Myers.
Rosemary/Crazy Steve over Tenille an Kaleb
Someone dressed as Karate Man will beat Ethan Page
Eric Young's crew beats Tommy Dreamer's crew.
Havoc and Navaeh win the revived Knockouts tag titles.
Deaonna Purrazzo retains over Taya Valkyrie.

Chris Bey regains the X Division title against Rohit and Manik.

Sami Callihan beats Eddie Edwards in a barbed wire massacre match thanks to Ken Shamrock and maybe a heel turn from Alicia Edwards.
AEW Champion Kenny Omega and Impact tag champions The Good Brothers will defeat Impact champion Rich Swann, Chris Sabin and Moose when Moose turns on Swann. This will set up Moose vs Swann for the Impact championship down the road.

Everybody enjoy some wrestling!
