Wrestle Review: House Showdown
Submitted by Andy Sullivan on 02/23/2020 at 03:37 PM

Even if you aren't feeling glad all over about your favorite wrestling company this past week, there's something for everyone. For instance, Raw was "meh" for me this last week(they've had a habit of that for a long time). The announcement of the Bella Twins going into the WWE Hall Of Fame brought out two sides: yes, they deserve to go in or, and this contingent is the louder, much more vocal, keep them out. No way they deserve to be in. To those who don't feel they should go in, I pose one simple question: why not? Let's look at all they've accomplished, shall we.

They are the first hall of fame inductees to come out of the Diva Search competition. Remember that? They are former WWE women's and diva's champions. If these titles were a thing when they were competing, I feel sure they would be multiple time women's tag team champions. And the argument against them goin in is that it discredits the hall of fame? Oh yeah, two good entertainers who put smiles on fans faces definitely shouldn't be in the hall of fame for World Wrestling ENTERTAINMENT! Entertainment is literally in the company name.

What is the meaning of the static interrupting Smackdown lately? There are several theories. Could Matt Hardy be heading to Smackdown? I don't think that's it. Could it be Jeff? Word is he's about to return and will be on the blue brand. I don't think that's it, either. I'm not sure what it will end up being but the NWO IS going into the Hall of Fame. Static started all the black & white promos of the NWO. Something to think about.

There are seven matches signed for Super Showdown this week. Here is my rundown and prediction for each.

We're probably going to get Shinsuke Nakamura regaining the I-C title from Braun Stroman with the aid of Sami and the Revival. It'd suck if they did Stroman dirty like that but look at how many times they should've given him the Universal Championship and didn't...

I guess there will be a Hulk Hogan appearance. For the life of me I can't imagine why. The Tuwaiq Trophy gauntlet match is the latest time filling gimmick thrown together for this year's installment of this show. Rusev, Truth, Styles, Andrade, Rowan and Lashley have all been thrown together in a gauntlet match to compete for a trophy where the winner gets....absolutely nothing. Rusev or Andrade should win. Lashley probably will win.

Bayley will defend the Smackdown women's championship against Naomi. I was honestly afraid it'd be Mella. It doesn't matter, though, since we're getting Sasha vs Bayley at Mania. That means Bayley retains here.

Corbin and Reigns will meet again-this time in a steel cage. I really hope this is the end of this ruff rivalry. It's really going to take dogged determination to watch this. Okay, I'll stop with the puns. Reigns has to win this if he's to challenge for and probably win the Universal Championship at WrestleMania.

New Day will lose the Smackdown tag team championships to Miz and Morrison. I feel like I've written that before. Well, I still believe it. That way, we can get a Miz and Morrison v New Day v Uso's for the titles at the WrestleMania kickoff show.

The Street Profits will get a shot at Seth Rollins and Buddy Murphy for the Raw tag team championships. They will lose. If this match lasts 10 minutes, I will be stunned. I'm thinking Owens, Strret Profits and Viking Raiders vs Rollins. Murphy, AOP and a new Rollins convert at WreslteMania, perhaps.

Brock Lesnar will retain against Ricochet. The match will probably be long since Brock likes working with smaller challengers. I wouldn't be shocked to see Drew McIntyre insert himself in some way. Maybe a Claymore to Brock after he retains to send the fans home happy.

Titles usually don't change hands at these shows. Well, except the last one where The Fiend beat Rollins to become Universal Champion. I don't see The Fiend losing that title to Goldberg. Plus, I see a Fiend/Reins championship match at Mania having a little more bang for your buck than a Reins/Goldberg match. Think about it: Reigns is like '80's and '90's Hogan(as much as some of you hate to admit it) vs The Fiend who is the 2020 equivalent of a guy like, okay the '80's and '90's didn't really have a guy like Wyatt. You get where I'm going with this, right?

Enjoy wrestling this week!
