Wrestle Review: The Main Event Nobody Asked For
Submitted by Andy Sullivan on 02/09/2020 at 03:50 PM

Clearly the Saudi Arabia shows are Vince's children. Or given his age, would it be grandchildren? Anyway, Goldberg has issued a challenge to The Fiend for the Universal Championship. Hey. it can't be any worse than Goldberg vs Undertaker in Saudi, right? Hopefully The Fiend will end it quickly. I can't see Goldberg defeating him for the championship.

The 10 lashes thing on Dynamite Wednesday: lots of people on twitter were having trouble with it because one guy was whipping another guy. Boy, Twitter wouldn't fly when I was growing up, much less any earlier. With 20 days(as of this writing) until AEW Revolution, I'm wondering who will turn on Cody next. Surely someone will. Will it be Brandi? DDP? Dustin? My money is on Dustin. Hey, maybe nobody will. It just seems to me, however, all the dominos have yet to fall.

At this time last year, we were in the midst of KofiMania. This year, Kofi is one half of the Smackdown tag team champions-until Super Showdown at least when they likely lose them to Miz and Morrison. When is the last time someone went from main event one WrestleMania to the kickoff show the following year? That's what I predict for Kofi this year.

One final item I'd like to talk about as I end this weeks column: I've read that WWE is considering moving their pay-per-views off WWE Network and back onto regular pay platforms. This would, in all likelihood, signal the return of $50-$60's each show. So, wrestling companies expect me to pay over $100 if I want to see WWE and AEW on ppv. No thank you. I watched 2-3 events per year when everything was almost $50-60. I got WrestleMania and SummerSlam. Sometimes I got Rumble. I never bothered with those monthly ones. If this sale happens, I'll be going back to that. It really seems like they'd realize that will greatly reduce their subscription rate. What would be the point of having the Network if you couldn't watch the pay-per-view events? I can tell you with 100% certainty that they'd lose me as a customer. And I know I wouldn't be the only one. Let's hope they don't do anything stupid like this. I'm not holding my breath, though.
