Wrestle Review: The Case for the Double
Submitted by Andy Sullivan on 11/17/2019 at 03:15 PM

Ric Flair, Triple H, Shawn Michaels. The distinction of double hall of famer isn't handed out often. I'm going to make the case for another 2X hall member: Daniel Bryan.

Daniel Bryan was forced to retire and found his way back. Most thought, I'm sure, that this second act was just for him. "Surely his days of being a serious championship contender are over", I'm sure many thought. Then, he shocked everyone when he defeated AJ Styles for the WWE Championship, turning heel in the process.

A five-month title reign, a tough loss to Kofi Kingston(who everyone wanted to win the title until he won it), a tag title run with Erik Rowan and great match after great match are just a few reasons I believe we could see Daniel Bryan become a 2X hall of fame inductee. His would be different, however. Ric, HHH and Shawn all have their second introductions as part of a group. Daniel has never been a part of a group(unless you want to count his 2-week stint as a member of the Wyatt Family.

I think the case makes itself for a second induction for Bryan. And he's not done yet. With the addition of the Universal Championship, I could definitely see Daniel Bryan winning the Universal Championship before this run is finished. He does have the title match against The Fiend next Sunday. While I don't think he wins Sunday, I could see him winning the Royal Rumble and getting a rematch against The Fiend at WrestleMania. I'm getting a few months ahead of myself. Let's see what happens in their first match at Survivor Series.
