Wrestle Review: Arrivals and Departures

WWE released Jeff Hardy Thursday morning, per Mat Men Podcast. Per New York Post, they fired him after he declined their rehab offer. I hope Jeff gets the help he needs.

Johnny Gargano’s promo at the end of NXT this week was raw, emotional and real. It was to be his goodbye to the company, as it was announced days later that he was now a free agent. In typical WWE fashion, they had a someone attack him after said promo. Although, since Johnny became a free agent Thursday night, perhaps this was him putting over a young upstart one last time.

MJF and Dante Martin were the final two in the Dynamite Diamond battle royal and will face off for the ring at Winter Is Coming this Wednesday on Dynamite. Shida and Serena Deeb and, of course, Bryan Danielson and Hangman Page face off for the AEW Championship. And there might be a surprise or two. Hook’s debut Friday night on Rampage was excellent. I’m impressed and am a fan already! I also think Winter Is Coming might see Best Friends vs Super Elite.

“I spent too much time at the dispensary and the edibles are kicking in”. The way Paul Heyman delivered that line Friday night was great. That man is hilarious! Xia Li debuted on Smackdown to assist Naomi against Sonya, Natalya and Shayna. This needs to be a six-woman tag next week if they can find a third. Then they could do Sonya vs Naomi at Day One.

The Mysterio’s and Street Profits will meet Monday to see who challenges RK Bro at Day One for the Raw tag titles. I think the Mysterio’s will win and turn heel. As is, both teams are face and I can’t see face vs face for the tag titles. I could be wrong. The New Day pinned the Uso’s Friday so I assume we’ll get New Day vs Uso’s at Day One for the Smackdown tag titles. I love when those two teams get together so that one would be fun!

That’s all for this week. Enjoy watching wrestling and I’ll see you back here next weekend! In the meantime, don’t forget to check out my podcast Blendertainment anywhere you get your podcasts.
