Why the 2026 Women’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match Is More Intriguing Than the Men’s MITB Match
I know a lot of people are going to think I’m crazy, but I honestly don’t think that I am. IMO, the Money in the Bank Ladder Match is supposed to set up a star for the future, and with 2 of the 6 men being former Champions, I feel like that is taken away from this match.
Even though, if we’re being honest, they’ll probably cancel each other out because they’ll be beating each other up and preventing each other from winning, so neither man will be able to retrieve the briefcase. So, if those 2 men, CM Punk and Kevin Owens, have so much heat with each other, then why not put them in a 1-on-1 PLE match instead of taking a spot away from a potential future Main Eventer?
So, once you eliminate Punk and KO, that leaves you with Je’Von Evans, Penta, Trick Williams and Bron Breakker. Out of those 4 men, I think it comes down to Penta and Breakker.
Penta just put on a hell of a showing when he challenged Roman Reigns for the title in Mexico. Then you have Bron… With everyone eyeing a Roman vs. Oba Femi WrestleMania Main Event, Bron as the MITB briefcase holder could spell certain doom for Oba if that match does, in fact, happen.
Now then, let’s take a look at the ladies…
Yes, there’s definitely a “Favored Competitor” in this match. I’m going to try not to be repetitive, but there’s one phrase I’m sure will be uttered more than once, and that is…
WE ALL NEED TO REMEMBER THAT THE WINNER HAS 1 YEAR TO CASH IN THE BRIEFCASE!
So, while on the surface, some of these ladies may not seem like they’re ready, that doesn’t mean that they won’t be in 365 days. I truly believe that ANY of these women could take the briefcase, and it would make complete sense.
Don’t believe me? Let me show you…
Lash Legend
Lash is more than likely just in the match in order to base for some of the bigger spots. As a former basketball player, she has that height and strength. However, let’s keep in mind that her husband, Trick Williams, is in the Men’s MITB Match.
The thought of a possible “power couple” MITB duo is definitely intriguing. She’s a “big hoss” woman who can impose her force and will on whomever she chooses, and with a running partner like Nia Jax, she has the backup as well.
With Chelsea Green as the current Champion on SmackDown, Lash cashing in on Chelsea seems like a definitive victory if they were to give her the briefcase.
She’s still a little green to the Main Roster, despite being on it for almost a year, but she has a year and could definitely be an “In Case of Emergency, Break Glass!” briefcase holder.
Lola Vice
If we’re being honest, Lola is in this match as a spotlight since she just recently came up to the Main Roster. That being said, what better way to build up her stock on the Main Roster than to give her the briefcase?
She’s held Championships in NXT and AAA, and while an Intercontinental or United States Championship run may serve her well before becoming World Champion, she has a year before she needs to cash in.
RVD held the Intercontinental Championship and MITB Briefcase at the same time. He then lost the IC Championship before cashing in the briefcase against John Cena. No reason the same can’t be done for Lola.
Sol Ruca
Sol is in the match to provide the “Holy Shit” moment. However, she has a huge fan following and reminds a lot of people of Lita, from her daredevil abilities to her fashion sense.
Fans and Hall of Famers alike have compared her to the female member of Team Xtreme. Some of the IWC have called her out for occasionally “botching” her spots, but I’d like to see those people get in the ring and execute the Sol Snatcher.
Sol cashing in on a big-time heel would be huge. WrestleMania is 6 months away, and SummerSlam is 8 months away. That gives her plenty of time.
Now for the 3 Women That I Feel Have the Best Chance of Walking Away With the Briefcase…
Tiffany Stratton
A gymnast with only 5 years of wrestling experience, she came to the Main Roster in February of 2024. She’s been on the Main Roster for 2 1/2 years, has already won MITB, and been WWE Women’s Champion!
Out of the entire field, she’s the ONLY woman to have held a Main Roster Championship.
That said, as much as her winning and potentially cashing in on her “Best Friend,” Chelsea Green, may seem appealing to some people, it’s literally the exact same play she pulled in 2025 when she cashed in on her “Best Friend,” Nia Jax.
We don’t need the exact same play with the exact same players this quickly.
Jacy Jayne
Jacy is the United States Champion and is an Underdog in this match. Explain that one to me…
A lot of people are sleeping on Jacy, and I don’t know why. The only thing I can think of is that they didn’t follow her in NXT.
From Toxic Attraction, to feuding with Gigi Dolan after the breakup of the stable, to joining Chase U in order to try to get Thea Hail to embrace her darkness (and almost succeeding), to creating Fatal Influence (which is basically a Toxic Attraction rehash, but with her as the main character)…
She’s a 2x NXT Women’s Champion and a TNA Knockouts Champion, yet people don’t think she’ll be able to get the job done.
Out of all the women in this match, she has the most accolades. IMO, she’s the #2 favorite based on accolades alone.
Roxanne Perez
That just leaves Roxanne Perez.
ROH Women’s Champion, 2x NXT Women’s Champion, NXT Tag-Team Champion, Women’s Tag-Team Champion.
Despite being a heel for the better part of the last 2 years, she still has a huge fan base. 24 years old and “The Prodigy” for a reason.
Roxanne is the odds-on favorite for this match, and if I’m being honest, is the only correct winner.
Yes, you can make the argument, “What’s the difference if Tiffany gets it or if Roxanne gets it?” Both of them would essentially be cashing in on people they’re associated with. Roxanne on Liv, and Tiffany on Chelsea.
The difference really just comes down to the fact that Roxanne would be a different direction.
People are always hating on the fact that the Women’s Briefcase is cashed in too quickly. The only person I could see in this field with a quick turnaround is Roxanne.
Because we all feel she’ll cash in on Liv whenever she regains the Championship. That could happen at MITB!
Everyone else in the field would be a longer-reigning MITB Briefcase holder. This would explain why Roxanne has been on such a losing streak this year.
Traditionally, the winner of the briefcase goes on a losing streak, which raises doubt in people’s minds as to whether or not the cash-in will be successful.
If Liv wins the Championship on Sunday, then Roxanne cashes in, that losing streak will be over.
This also will create an interesting dynamic within the Judgment Day.
Will Liv be kicked out due to the cash-in? Will Roxanne be kicked out? Will Liv give Roxanne her credit because Liv took a similar opportunity when she won and cashed in the briefcase (also on the same night) against Ronda Rousey at the 2022 PLE?
Will Liv be proud of Roxanne for essentially following her playbook? Or will the Judgment Day just dissolve altogether?
With the Women’s Championship match at Money in the Bank being a Triple Threat Match, that means there’s no disqualification. This plays into the Judgment Day’s advantage.
Plus, Stephanie Vaquer looked strong as RAW went off the air, which is traditionally a tell that she would be the loser at the PLE.
So many things to take into consideration here, which all play into why I feel the Women’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match is the most interesting of the 2.
