WWE reportedly interested in signing two NJPW wrestlers

According to Fightful Select, WWE has expressed interest in signing NJPW stars Tama Tonga and his brother Hikuleo. Despite recently winning the NEVER Openweight title, NJPW sources claimed to Fightful that Tonga’s NJPW contract is up in a matter of weeks. Fightful was told that “the interest in possibly bringing in Tonga isn’t new, word traveled through the NJPW locker room ahead of Wrestle Kingdom 17.”

WWE has reportedly been interested in Hikuleo for months. Hikuleo is currently booked in an upcoming “loser leaves Japan” match against “Switchblade” Jay White. Fightful noted the following about Hikuleo…

“It’s important to note that we haven’t been told if contact has been made between the two sides or when Hikuleo’s NJPW contract is up. However, we’ve been told that much like with Finn Balor helping bring in Dragon Lee, intermediaries have been used to express interest to the talent themselves in many cases.”
