WWE news items regarding CM Punk vs. Seth Rollins, Sasha Banks/Royal Rumble, and Austin Theory

Here are a few WWE news items for January 19th 2024 via the Wrestling Observer Newsletter and Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com…

* Meltzer reported that WWE world heavyweight champion Seth Rollins vs. CM Punk “is the confirmed Wrestlemania plan” at this time. Rollins was said to have suffered a knee injury during the January 15th 2024 edition of RAW and has been pulled from upcoming events. There is still no word regarding the severity of his injury.

* In regards to Sasha Banks/Mercedes Mone’s future, Meltzer stated the following: “Even with all the AEW rumors (and there is expectation in AEW that she’ll be in after finishing up some acting commitments this month), nothing is for certain and some in WWE believe there is still a shot for her in the Royal Rumble.”

* As previously noted, Carmelo Hayes’ match against Austin Theory from the January 12th 2024 edition of Smackdown was stopped due to potential injuries. According to Meltzer, Theory ended up with a concussion and Hayes was shaken up. Hayes wrestled on WWE NXT this week.
