What was reportedly being discussed for CM Punk’s match at the 2023 All Out PPV in Chicago
As previously noted, it was confirmed by Sports Illustrated that CM Punk and Jack Perry have been suspended by AEW due to their backstage altercation at the 2023 All In PPV event.
Punk’s status for All Out in his hometown of Chicago, IL remains up in the air and it’s unknown how long his suspension will last. Fightful Select noted the following in regards to what had been discussed for Punk’s match at the event prior to his altercation with Perry…
“One of the matches on the table was CM Punk vs. Ricky Starks for the AEW Real Worlds Championship, which would have followed up their series of matches that went down this summer. From what we’ve heard it likely would have been the main event.”
Punk was in Las Vegas on Tuesday to receive an award from the Cauliflower Alley Club and Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com reported that he still in the city just hours before the live broadcast of Dynamite in Chicago. In regards to Punk’s suspension, Johnson wrote that AEW “has not publicly confirmed that” and “some AEW sources conceded there was a suspension today to PWInsider but others have not, stating they were ‘not aware’ that was official.”
