What people within WWE are reportedly saying about MJF’s contractual status with AEW

In recent months, MJF has mentioned that his AEW contract is up in 2024 and teased that there will be a “bidding war” between AEW and WWE for his services. In an update on MJF’s contractual status, Nick Hausman of HausOfWrestling.com noted the following…

“Haus of Wrestling has heard from several WWE sources who believe Friedman has quietly re-signed with AEW. One higher-up WWE source stated that there have been ‘zero talks’ between the two sides. They further noted that the idea Friedman is set to enter free agency imminently is a ‘false narrative’ and that they believe he has re-signed into 2027.”

Hausman added that AEW was reached out to for comment in regards to MJF’s contractual status but the company hasn’t responded yet.

Last week, MJF said the following about his future to SI.com…

“Tony Khan is definitely trying his hardest to keep me here. There are a lot of things about All Elite Wrestling that I like, but there’s also a lot of things about WWE that I like. What I’m most interested in is money.”
