What is being said about the situation with Drew McIntyre’s WWE contract heading into Wrestlemania 40
It was previously reported that Drew McIntyre’s WWE contract is expected to expire after the Wrestlemania 40 PLE. McIntyre is scheduled to challenge Seth Rollins for the world heavyweight title at Wrestlemania.
This week, it was reported by PWInsider.com that those close to McIntyre are claiming he has still hasn’t reached an agreement with WWE for a contract extension. With Wrestlemania coming up, Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com discussed the situation during Wrestling Observer Radio…
“I was checking with people. And it’s like, look, you know, the belief is that he knows what the situation is. And, you know, he’s already promoting feuds for the summer and the fall. I don’t think he’s planning on going anywhere. And the thing with him with the contract, I mean, the thing that he was looking for months ago, when, you know, it was the contract was running out, and he wasn’t in a rush to sign, was number one; he thought that he wanted to do this new character. And if the new character didn’t work out in the booking and the booking wasn’t strong and everything like that, the idea was maybe, maybe go back and spend time with the family and take time off. And that was among the thoughts obviously, with the character got over great. And the other aspect of the character getting over great is that by doing so and not signing the feeling is that his price should be higher, because he’s a much bigger star. And he’s got big programs to come back to then was the situation six months ago.
So we’ll see how that all works out. But I would feel that his not signing and gambling. I would kind of say couldn’t it turned out better, but certainly it turned out good.” (quotes courtesy of WrestlingNews.co)
