What is being said about Oba Femi’s decision to postpone his world title match against Roman Reigns
This week on WWE RAW, Brock Lesnar vs. Oba Femi inside Hell in a Cell was confirmed for SummerSlam 2026. According to Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com, the plan was always for Femi to win the 2026 King of the Ring tournament but postpone his guaranteed world championship match against Roman Reigns in favor of facing Lesnar.
Meltzer stated that WWE’s long-term goal is to build toward Femi vs. Reigns as the biggest match possible, believing SummerSlam would have been too soon for that showdown. He “can’t say with certainty” that the encounter is being saved for WrestleMania 43.
Meltzer also offered his opinion that having Femi lose to Reigns this early would not have been the right move. He compared the situation to Cody Rhodes’ eventual success after an initial setback, but argued that each performer is different, saying Femi is more comparable to Bill Goldberg than Rhodes or Will Ospreay.
With Femi instead set to face Lesnar inside Hell in a Cell at SummerSlam, Meltzer noted that the feud has become one of WWE’s hottest programs based on YouTube viewership and crowd reactions. He added that, in his view, the only finish that makes sense is a Femi victory, as he sees little upside in Lesnar winning after already defeating Femi to set up the rematch.
