Sherilyn Guerrero on CM Punk: “He was an older brother I needed after my dad passed away”

While speaking to the Smoothvega podcast, Eddie Guerrero’s daughter Sherilyn commented on her interactions with wrestlers over the years…

“So with CM Punk, I would go with him to his Make-A-Wishes. I would follow him around the ring. He was an older brother I needed after my dad passed away. And to see him was so heartwarming. We just hugged.

I think when I saw Big Show and JBL — I actually saw JBL in Bay City for the first time before the conventions — there was a warm embrace. I think they kind of feel my dad when they hug me, so it’s healing for both of us. For me, it’s like being a kid again, and for them, I think I bring a presence of my dad with me. So I hope it’s as heartwarming for them as I think it is too.

But I know CM Punk was like, ‘Don’t tell me you’re wrestling.’ I said, ‘I sure am.’ And he just embraced me.

It’s not cliché, but I really feel like it was supposed to happen — reconnecting and then seeing Rey Mysterio. Luckily, Dominik Mysterio is someone I can really go to. He gives great advice. He keeps it real, and I love that. Rey will keep it real too, but seeing them, it’s just a hug that I can’t forget. It’s a moment that, without the cameras and everything, is probably a core memory that I can hold on to.”
