Seth Rollins writes ‘Merry Covid Christmas to me’ as WWE changes MSG matches
As previously noted, several WWE stars and staff have reportedly tested positive for Covid-19 just days before the company’s post-Christmas holiday tour.
Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com reported that the advertised main events for Sunday night’s WWE live event at Madison Square Garden had to be changed. Big E was scheduled to defend the WWE Title against Kevin Owens and Seth Rollins while Bianca Belair was set to challenge Becky Lynch for the RAW women’s title. Both were going to be steel cage matches.
Rollins, who was scheduled to be in the WWE Title match, tweeted “Merry Covid Christmas to me!!!! I LOVE FOOTBALL!!!”

NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa vs. Pete Dunne was added to the MSG card just a few hours before the show started. Johnson wrote the following…
“We are told that Tommaso Ciampa vs. Pete Dunne had been planned for this week’s Holiday Tour events on the RAW side of the tour. It was not a case of those talents being tapped late in the game to work the shows.”
It was reported during the week that NXT matches would possibly take place at main roster live events to fill in the undercard.
