Results of Rhea Ripley vs. Becky Lynch at WWE Wrestlemania 40 Saturday

Rhea Ripley (c) vs. Becky Lynch for the women’s world title took place at WWE Wrestlemania 40 Saturday. Here are the highlights…

* WWE opened Wrestlemania 40 with a new signature opening. Triple H came to the ring and welcomed fans to a new era of WWE.

* For Becky’s entrance, excerpts from her book were recited. Motionless in White, the band that performed Rhea Ripley’s entrance, played Rhea to the ring.

* It was noted on commentary that Becky has been battling from strep throat.

* Becky slapped Rhea and Rhea slapped Becky back. Rhea used her power to take control in the early minutes. Becky gained the upper hand with a tornado DDT. Becky took Rhea to the outside and gave her an exploder suplex into the barricade. Becky got Rhea back in the ring and tried to apply the disarm-her but was unsuccessful. Becky applied another submission but Rhea powered out and delivered multiple powerbombs.

* Becky recovered and the two exchanged blows. Rhea charged Becky but missed and hit the ring post. Becky went for a top rope legdrop but Rhea countered and applied the “prison trap” submission. Becky managed to escape the submission and hit the Manhandle slam but Rhea kicked out.

* Rhea recovered and hit the riptide but Becky kicked out. Becky delivered a superplex and applied the disarm-her. The two flipped over the top rope and Rhea dropped Becky on the floor. Rhea came off the top rope with a frogsplash but Becky kicked out. After more back and forth between the two, Rhea scored the pinfall victory with the riptide.
