Rey Mysterio (c) vs. Austin Theory for the United States title took place at the WWE Payback 2023 PLE. Here are the highlights…

* After a quick start for Mysterio, Theory gained the upper hand and sent Mysterio chest-first into the corner. Theory tried to rip off Mysterio’s mask but was unsuccessful.

* Mysterio started to make a comeback with a top rope moonsault to Theory. Mysterio slid under the bottom rope and gave Theory a DDT on the floor. Back in the ring, Theory was able to avoid a 619 and regained control.

* Mysterio was able to counter A-Town Down into a pin and scored the victory.
