Results of Christian Cage vs. Darby Allin for the TNT title at AEW WrestleDream 2023

Christian Cage (c) vs. Darby Allin in a two out of three falls match for the TNT title took place at AEW WrestleDream 2023. Here are the highlights…

* Christian was said to have requested to enter the ring first and Christian sent Luchasaurus to the back. Darby presented his skateboard to a young fan at ringside.

* The two went back and forth in the early moments. Darby then used Christian’s turtleneck against him and won the first fall with a jackknife pin.

* Christian turned up the aggression and started to dominate in the second fall. Darby came back with a code red but Christian kicked out. Darby kept trying to go for the win but then Christian sent Darby to the outside.

* Christian threw Darby into the barricade. Christian started taunting Nick Wayne’s mom at ringside and she threw water at him. That gave Darby an opportunity to make a comeback and deliver a coffin drop to the outside.

* Darby went for another coffin drop in the ring but Christian got his knees up. Christian gave Darby a thumb to the eyes and then suplexed Darby onto the steel steps. Christian then slammed Darby off the apron onto the steps. Darby ended up being counted out.

* The medical team checked on Darby and Christian exposed the ring boards. Darby was placed onto a stretcher but Christian then jumped off the top rope with a splash onto Darby.

* Back in the ring, Christian gave Darby the killswitch on the exposed boards but Darby somehow managed to kick out. Christian applied a Scorpion Death Lock but Darby got to the rope. Darby fought back and hit a Scorpion Death Drop to Christian. Darby then hit the coffin drop but Christian was able to kick out.

* Christian gave Darby a sunset flip powerbomb onto the exposed boards. Christian went for a spear but hit the referee by mistake. Christian hit a low blow and went for the TNT title. Nick Wayne took the title away from Christian. However, it was a swerve and Nick attacked Darby with the title. The referee was revived and counted out Darby.

* After the match, the attack continued but Sting came down to make the save. However, Luchasaurus arrived and Sting was about to get the conchairto when the lights went out. A vignette aired and then Adam Copeland (formerly Edge) arrived with to Metalingus. His pyro went off and Edge came into the ring as the crowd started a “holy shit” chant. Edge acted like he was going to help deliver the conchairto to Darby but then attacked Christian’s crew with the chair. Edge gave Wayne a spear and stood tall in the ring. Edge shook hands with Sting as the PPV went off the air.
