Report: What WWE has planned following the injury to interim women’s champion Chelsea Green

As seen during the August 7th 2026 edition of WWE SmackDown, interim WWE women’s champion Chelsea Green teamed with Tiffany Stratton in a loss to WWE women’s tag team champions Fallon Henley and Lainey Reid. Chelsea later announced that she suffered a broken orbital bone.

In an update, Chelsea Green is reportedly expected to keep her title despite the injury. According to WrestleVotes Radio, she is expected to miss several weeks of in-ring action, but WWE is not currently planning to remove her from television or strip her of the championship. It is believed that she will appear on the August 14th 2026 episode of SmackDown.

It was also noted that WWE officials were impressed by the social media engagement generated by her championship victory at SummerSlam.

WWE remains optimistic about Chelsea Green's injury status.
